Supporting education has been a cornerstone of the La Mesa Woman’s Club mission for decades. Since establishing the Marjorie  Howard-Hartman Scholarship program in 1975, the Club has helped local students pursue higher education and achieve their dreams. This year, we are proud to continue that tradition by awarding five $5,000 scholarships to exceptional graduating seniors from Grossmont Union High School District schools.

The Scholarship Committee reviewed applications from 33 students from 12 local schools applied, with each application averaging six pages of academic records, essays, recommendations, and detailed information about school and community involvement. The process was both inspiring and challenging.

Committee members carefully evaluated each applicant based on academic achievement, school and community service, work experience, personal essays, and letters of recommendation. The impressive caliber of students made the selection process especially difficult.

“These students are amazing,” shared committee members. “They are all outstanding and incredibly well-rounded.”

After extensive review and thoughtful discussion, the committee selected five deserving scholarship recipients:

  • Lara Esihak – El Cajon Valley High School
  • Batool Badrawi – El Cajon Valley High School
  • Coty Foster Roland – El Capitan High School
  • Cobi Martinez-Rasmuzzen – Helix Charter High School
  • Hasan Al Jenabi – Grossmont Middle College High School

Scholarship presentations take place during each school’s Senior Awards Ceremony in late May and early June. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipients’ colleges or universities and applied to their student financial accounts to support their educational expenses.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the dedicated Scholarship Committee members who devoted countless hours to reviewing applications and selecting this year’s recipients.
