The Marjoree Howard-Hartman Scholarship Program

Investing In The Next Generation

The La Mesa Woman’s Club proudly awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the Grossmont Union High School District. Established in 1971, the Marjorie Howard-Hartman Scholarship supports students who demonstrate academic achievement, community service, and a commitment to their future goals. We are happy to contribute to the future success of our youth in any way we can.

Each year, five $5,000 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors pursuing a four-year college education. Applicants are evaluated based on:

Community service

School Extra-Curricular Activities

Academic Achievement

Quality of Essay

Future Goals

The scholarship is named in honor of the late Mrs. Marjoree Howard-Hartman (Margie). She was a 62 year member of La Mesa Woman’s Club (LMWC) and was Education Chairman for 34 years. She started the scholarship program in 1975. Margie was a lifelong educator in San Diego schools. She strongly believed students who complete higher education have a greater chance of success in life. We are proud to have awarded more than $142,000 to high school seniors attending schools within the Grossmont Union High School District.
