The La Mesa Woman’s Club recently kicked off its 125th Anniversary Celebration Year with a special evening gathering that brought together local officials, members, and community supporters to celebrate the club’s long history of service and leadership in La Mesa.
Since 1902, generations of women have come together through the club to support local causes, encourage civic engagement, and build lasting connections within the community. The anniversary kick-off event marked the beginning of a year-long celebration honoring the people, projects, and values that have shaped the organization for more than a century.
La Mesa Mayor Arapostathis presented a Commendation to the Club. During the evening representations from local school districts and LMWC supported community organizations joined elected officials and club members to connect and learn more about the upcoming anniversary activities and events
Over the coming months, the club will continue highlighting programs and projects that reflect the heart of its mission, including support for education, conservation, health, volunteer service, and the empowerment of women.
One of the evening’s special moments was a presentation of a $5000 donation to the Friends of the La Mesa Library, recognizing the importance of supporting local educational resources and literacy programs within the community. The donation will be matched by the San Diego Country and will be used to purchase additional items to the library’s collection.
As the celebration year begins, the La Mesa Woman’s Club looks forward to honoring its past while continuing its commitment to serving the La Mesa community for generations to come.
