The La Mesa Woman’s Club proudly celebrated its 125th Anniversary with a meaningful act of community service—presenting 125 backpacks filled with school supplies to students at Bancroft Elementary School in preparation for the 2026–2027 school year.

Held on August 5, 2026, the event reflected the Club’s long-standing commitment to supporting local children and families through education, volunteerism, and community partnerships. Club members gathered with school representatives to distribute backpacks filled with essential school supplies, helping ensure that students begin the new school year equipped for success.

Celebrating a Legacy of Service

Since its founding in 1902, the La Mesa Woman’s Club has been dedicated to improving the lives of residents through civic engagement, philanthropy, scholarships, and volunteer service. As the Club marks 125 years of serving the community, members wanted to commemorate this milestone in a way that would make a lasting difference for local students.

The backpack project was a fitting anniversary celebration—one that honored the Club’s rich history while investing in the future of La Mesa’s children.

Each backpack represented more than school supplies. It symbolized the encouragement, confidence, and community support every child deserves as they begin a new academic year.

Supporting Local Students

Starting a new school year can be both exciting and challenging for families. By providing backpacks filled with classroom essentials, the La Mesa Woman’s Club hopes to ease some of the financial burden many families experience while ensuring students arrive on the first day of school prepared to learn.

Education has long been one of the Club’s priorities, and this project reflects its belief that every child should have the tools needed to succeed.

Community Partnerships Make a Difference

The success of this project was made possible through the generosity of community members and supporters who contributed to the backpack campaign. Their donations, combined with the dedication of Club volunteers, allowed the Club to reach its goal of providing 125 fully stocked backpacks to Bancroft Elementary School students.

The La Mesa Woman’s Club extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who helped make this anniversary project such a success. Community partnerships continue to be the foundation of the Club’s ability to serve others.

Looking Ahead

As the Club begins its next 125 years, members remain committed to supporting educational opportunities, strengthening community partnerships, and responding to the changing needs of La Mesa.
