The La Mesa Woman’s Club was proud to welcome community members, families, and friends to the Special Flag Presentation & Ice Cream Social held on July 19 at the La Mesa Veterans Club.

The afternoon was a wonderful celebration of patriotism, community, and fellowship as attendees gathered to honor the American flag and reflect on the values it represents. Following the presentation, guests enjoyed ice cream, conversation, and the opportunity to connect with neighbors in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

For more than 124 years, the La Mesa Woman’s Club has been committed to strengthening the community through volunteer service, civic engagement, education, and philanthropy. Events like this continue that tradition by bringing people together to celebrate our shared history while building lasting community connections.

“We were delighted to see so many members of our community join us,” said Club President Kathy Tinsley. “The afternoon was a wonderful reminder that simple gatherings centered on patriotism and friendship can create meaningful connections and strengthen our community.”

The Club extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success. Special thanks go to the La Mesa Veterans Club for hosting the event and to Bruster’s Real Ice Cream of La Mesa for generously sponsoring the ice cream social.  Our thanks and admiration go to the Young Marines of City Heights who performed the Honor Guard and Flag Ceremony.  The Young Marines, which just happened to be an all female unit, were spectacular.  Following the ceremony they were presented with a gift bag from the LMWC with a pocket constitution, US Flag and special Commemorative 250th Coin .

As the La Mesa Woman’s Club approaches its 125th anniversary, it remains dedicated to creating opportunities for service, friendship, and civic involvement throughout the community. From scholarships and charitable giving to educational programs and community events, the Club continues its long-standing mission of making a positive difference in La Mesa.
